Mission
Statement
Dancing’s Our Poison (DOP) has the mission to dance with an innate passion while inspiring others to have the courage and perseverance to chase their own dreams. We do this through the training and improvement of ourselves as individuals and dancers, while simultaneously fulfilling our civic duties of building and giving back to the community.
DOP is a co-ed, non-competitive hip hop and urban dance team built around a shared love for movement, expression, and community.
While our foundation is in hip hop and urban styles, our choreography and training often explore a wide range of dance forms throughout the year. We believe versatility makes us stronger dancers and more creative artists.
What is DOP?
Our team is made up of dancers from many different backgrounds. Some members have years of experience and others are just beginning their journey. What connects us is not where we start, but our willingness to learn, grow, and show up for one another.
We value an environment where dancers feel supported, challenged, and inspired, regardless of skill level.
Who are we?
Throughout the school year we come together to train, create, and perform. Beyond team practices, we also host free weekly workshops open to the Blacksburg community during the school year.
These workshops are a space to explore dance in a welcoming, low-pressure environment and to share what we love with others.
What do we do?
