Audition Info

SZN 19 audition dates coming soon...

We hold auditions each fall at the beginning of the semester. Audition dates for the upcoming season will be announced soon, so check back throughout the summer for updates and be sure to follow us on Instagram for the latest information.

Who Should Audition?

We welcome dancers from a wide variety of backgrounds, training styles, and experience levels. Whether you've been dancing for years, primarily train in a specific style, or are looking to expand your experience, we encourage you to come out and audition.

More than anything, we're looking for team members. We encourage prospective members to come to auditions with an open mind, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for dance. Technical ability is important, but so is your willingness to learn, support others, and contribute to the culture of our team.

Bring your energy, your personality, and your unique style. Don't be afraid to be yourself! We want to see what makes you stand out both as a dancer and as a teammate.

What We Look For

We're not looking for any one specific thing, skill or person and auditionees should keep in mind that we evaluate prospective members on both dance ability and personality. We don't have a set list of skills or qualities you need to have in order to make the team, but we do take positive note of dancers who present themselves with any of these qualities.

  • Good work ethic and commitment

  • Coachability and willingness to learn

  • Spatial awareness and attention to detail

  • Musicality and movement retention

  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others

  • Passion for dance and interest in continuous growth

No set dance background is required, and there is no "perfect" audition candidate. We are looking for individuals who will contribute to the team both on and off the dance floor.

What Do Auditions Look Like?

Auditions are a weeklong process where prospective members learn 2 different combinations, participate in an interview, and have the opportunity to learn more about the team and members. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are required for those who want to audition.

Monday: Audition Workshop lasts 3 hours and is similar to our Thursday workshop series. Dancers will learn short audition pieces from our co-directors. (This workshop is open to anyone. You can attend no-strings attached like a normal workshop if you are uninterested in auditioning.)

Tuesday: Optional Review both pieces learned on Monday with panel members and opportunity to ask further questions about either pieces or the team at large.

Wednesday: Individual Interviews where we can get to know you better and you have the opportunity to ask any personal or specific questions about the team

Thursday: Q&A Session

Friday: Audition Day where you will perform both combinations learned on Monday in small groups and have the opportunity to present a 3rd optional piece. Optional pieces cannot hurt but only help a dancer's chance of making the team.
